When we retire a cat, we occasionally offer them to folks looking for a Maine Coon, but want to skip the crazy kitten stage. These are not only special cats, because they are Maine Coons, but they are extra special because they have also been extremely well socialized, have had to adapt to people coming and going, periods of kittens making all sorts of ruckus, to periods of quiet and calm where they may find it quite lonely (or a huge relief!). They’ve also had to adapt to meeting other cats and forced to get along so they either become besties or find a way to live in peace by giving each other space. After an early life in a cattery, they would do great in just about any scenario. With or without other cats, with dogs, in small living spaces to vast homes and backyards on leashes.
They do come with some quirks. For instance, Marigold is a chatter box, and will call out for attention. She will pin you down with biscuits and not really let you get much done. She would do well with a large family who can give her all sorts of time and affection. Nyx is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of cat. She thoroughly enjoys scritches and belly rubs, until the moment she doesn’t. She would be better off with a family with older kids, a couple, or a single person, who she can give her love to, but who will respect her boundaries. Nook, our honorary Maine Coon, is a 24+ lb black domestic shorthair who was raised in our barn with goats, as a mouser. He has spent the last year inside acclimating to house-cat life. He is an amazing cat who is very affectionate and docile with a truly retired mindset. He will require extra patience and many climbing surfaces as he still may want to scratch. He really loves an area rug that I mounted to the wall, and that’s all he scratches now.
Marigold is available now for a $1000 rehoming fee. She has recently been spayed and is ready for a life of luxury.
Nyx will be available after she is spayed for a $1000 rehoming fee. Please inquire about her if interested.
Nook is neutered and ready to go home for $300. He is NOT a Maine Coon. He only shares their size and disposition.
Why is there a fee? Because these are not street cats or feral kittens. They have been raised and maintained with the best food and litter, spoiled with toys, have had twice yearly vet visits since birth, and above all given all sorts of love over the years. I have (or will have) them spayed/neutered and vet checked before going home to a new family. They are well rounded, personable, and trained. These cats are part of my life, I love them and I’ve raised them since 8 weeks old. I part with them only to give them a rest from the chaos of a cattery, not because I don’t want them, or that they have been “used up”. The application process for them will be thorough, as I will only rehome them to a better life then they have right now, which is pretty damn good! Potential adopters should be local to the Seattle area as we will want to meet in person. Only serious inquiries please.
